An affiliate is a person/ website that promotes other firms/ websites’ products for a fee. The business model could vary from payment per exposure, per lead, per sale and so on.
The affiliate uses his/her incoming traffic (*usually) to generate profits for the affiliated firm.
* Not always an affiliate would use a website. Some promote others’ products via direct advertising with an affiliated link. This will be explained further later on.
Affiliates vary between those who have a niche website and will to leverage their traffic to monetize a product, and those who create a niche site because/ as a result of a specific product they want to promote… this is usually the differentiation between a professional money making affiliate, and “just another webmaster/blogger” that has got good traffic…
